Kogi Guber : Communities reject ethnicity, Igala agenda campaigns for election

The attempt by some people to foist Igala agenda in the ongoing electioneering campaign for the November Governorship election has been rejected by communities in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi state.

Residents of Anguwar Ogebe in Ankpa metropolis have pledged their unwavering support for the candidate of APC, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, they described as a trusted and dependable politician from the Central Senatorial district of the state.

A prominent leader of the area and an APC stalwart and the Rector, Kogi state Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo, staged a roadshow in support of the APC Governorship candidate, at Ankpa, to counter the unholy and divisive indoctrination of the people by the proponents of Igala political agenda .

The people of Anguwar Ogebe, comprising four autonomous communities made the rejection on Saturday during the roadwalk and special prayers organised by Professor Usman Ogbo, held at the main area of Angwar Ogebe in Ankpa metropolis.

Addressing APC supporters, Professor Ogbo, charged contestants for leadership positions in the state to test their popularity from their polling units, wards, and local Government areas and not to bother the electorate with their ethnic agenda that has no direct impact on their livelihoods.

According to Ogbo, it has become incumbent on him to guide the people on the Kogi state agenda that has brought transformation to their communities, pointing out the advent of APC has placed him in a key position in the administration.

He revealed that for the first time they began to get the dividend of democracy as against the successive administrations led by Igala sons who deliberately abandoned them, with no social and economic opportunities.

He stressed that an agenda should be geared towards provision of socio economic amenities and inclusiveness of the entire people in running the affairs of the state, religions, ethnicity,creed and status not withstanding.

He explained that right from his youthful age in the community, encouragement of his mates to embrace Western Education even together with Islamic education has been his major concern.

He disclosed that as a pay back to the community, as one of the first to have a degree, a Masters and a PhD, held the development of the area sacrosanct, as his community have developed a natural love for him and his political career.

Professor Ogbo, who is the Rector, Kogi state Polytechnic, Lokoja, also disclosed that he has used the opportunity created for him by Governor Yahaya Bello, to facilitate employment for the people, admission for students and social and economic projects sited in the area.

He admonished those who abandoned the area for the presumed fears of witches and wizards for over forty years to return home, as he and some of his like-minds have brought development to the area .

The renown School administrator, however warned against coming with the divisive and retrogressive Igala agenda, insisting that the only agenda acceptable should be the one that can put food and other essentials of development on the table.

He promised to continue to mobilise his people to vote en mass for APC, Ahmed Usman Ododo and his Deputy Joel Oyibo, insisting that his party would win with a landslide at the polls.

He warned those who would want to use the forthcoming election to cause violence to desist as the ancestors are at work to reward them with their evil machinations.

Those in attendance in the walk include former Deputy Speakers in the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kizito Makolo and Rabiu Ishaka, Provost College of Education Ankpa, Prof.Mohammed Kabir, GM, State Water Board and a host of others.
