Kogi Gov urges youths to accept skills acquisition

Youth across the country have been advised to accept skills acquisition as a reliable means of getting self employed.

Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, gave the advise on Saturday at Koton Karfe headquarters of Kogi local government area of Kogi state while commissioning three skills acquisition centres established by Hon. Zakari Mohammed Osewu as part of his constituency projects..

Governor Bello holds that in view of the global economic downturn which has affected production and services, the option remains the acquisition of skills and innovations that could lead to industrial revolution.

The governor who was represented by the Speaker of Kogi state House of Assembly, Hon, Mathew Kolawole urged Nigerians not to despair, but see the past hardship as personal sacrifice to redeem the nation that was plundered, raped and looted by the few people that mismanaged the affairs of the country for 16 years.

He urged the people of the area to be focused and disregard any negative campaigns by the opposition against President Muhammad Buhari that will lure them back to the bad days when leaders carted away the resources and money to foreign countries and rendered the remaining people helpless.

The governor therefore appealed to be people of Koton Karfe to remain solidly behind President Buhari being the only one now that can salvage the country from the mess the PDP has thrown the country into.

The member of the Kogi state House of Assembly, Hon Zakari Mohammed Osewu, representing Kogi (K K) state constituency explained that the the 3 skills acquisition centres are located at Koton Karfe, Kpareke and Gegu

Hon Osewu stated that it is his desire to change the political perception of local government hence the idea of empowering the youth to get them engaged.

He explained that the skills acquisition centres are equipped with computer systems, sewing machines and traditional textile equipments.

The lawmaker therefore appealed to local government authority, traditional and community leaders where these projects are located to ensure their safety, sustenance and maintenance.

In a remark, the Ohimege Igu, the paramount ruler and President of the traditional council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Isa Koto commended the Kogi state House of Assembly for their peaceful conduct and deliberations throughout the year, pointing out that their cooperation has brought tremendous peace and progress in the state.
