As part of its cooperate social responsibility, the Kano state Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) in charge of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa State has inaugurated women literacy centre at Dausayi village, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano state, with the objective of impacting women in the area with basic knowledge of reading and writing.
Speaking during the inaugurating of the learning centre, Chief Executive Officer KEDCO, Dr Jamil Isiyaku Gwamnar, said the company this time around, deemed it wise to deviate from the conventional distribution of items such as: Mosquito nets, noodles etc, to such a project that would impact positively on the community and society at large.
According to him, the choice of starting with the women is in line with a popular adage that says, to train a woman is to train a whole society.
