Katsina wants closer ties with US

The Katsina State Government has called for closer ties with the United States of America to strengthen four key areas of the its economy.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari made the call when he received Counsellor for Economic Affairs in the Embassy of United States, Mr. Alan Tousignant in the state at the weekend.

Masari said the current state administration had identified four key areas of education, agriculture, health and water supply for immediate attention and intervention.

He said the needs and challenges Nigeria faced in the 60s were still the same confronting the nation, and that such were begging for solutions, especially in the state.

The governor said that, in an effort to boost the economic sector, an economic summit had been scheduled for next month, which President Muhammadu Buhari had graciously accepted to declare open.

He called on the visiting US delegation to attend the summit to learn more about potential investment opportunities in the state.
