Kathy Griffin Also Quits Fashion Police Just After 7 Episodes
As it appears, without Joan Rivers, the show may not go on after all.
Kathy Griffin who was just recently recruited to replace Joan rivers and has only taped 7 episodes of the show has revealed that her “style does not fit with the creative direction of the show,”. She announced on Thursday she’s leaving E!’s Fashion Police;
“After seven episodes of Fashion Police, I discovered that my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show and now it’s time to move on,” Griffin wrote on Twitter.
Griffin told the Chicago Sun-Times she had recently shut down a proposed running segment called “Whore Score.”
“Um, no thanks. I think we can do better, Look, God knows my — how shall I say — repertoire over all these years on TV and live touring has used some language I wouldn’t use today, but people just aren’t into that stuff anymore. … Name-calling and alliteration with no comedic context is simply the lowest hanging fruit.”
E! soon issued a statement of their own. “We can confirm that Kathy Griffin is leaving E!’s Fashion Police. We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all.”
The show will go on, the network added, on Monday, with Rancic, Brad Goreski and Melissa Rivers still on board.
Kelly Osbourne left Fashion Police Feb. 28, after the show’s post-Oscar edition included a joke made by Rancic that actress-singer Zendaya’s hair suggested the smell of patchouli oil or marijuana. Rancic came under fire from Zendaya and Osbourne, among others, and apologized the next day on E! News.
