Jubilation as OAU picks Elujoba as Ag. VC

The Senate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has appointed a Pharmacognosist Professor, Anthony Elujoba, from Faculty of Pharmacy, as the acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
This, Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, said this was in compliance with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari.
When our correspondent visited the university, workers who were jubilating at the choice of Prof. Elujoba.
While others formed convoy with their cars, others treked to Senate car park o the university, which they eventually renamed Freedom Park.
During the meeting of the Senate members at the Conference Center of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife won at a large margin.
Elujoba, who contested with Prof. Adebayo Lamikanran, of the same Faculty had a total votes of 205 while other contestant had just five votes.
It was gathered that Elujoba emerged winner after more than two hours of heated debate, presided over by the outgoing Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Omolayo Ajayi.
Olarewaju said, “The new acting Vice Chancellor, was an accomplished academic who had served as the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy; Chairman, Committee of Deans and Chairman, Ceremonials Committee of the University for several years.”
