Senator Ahmed Wadada on Thursday put to rest speculations about his political move as he officially resigned from the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

Senator Wadada who until his resignation heads the Senate Public Accounts Committee was elected into the Red Chamber in 2023 to represent Nasarawa West senatorial district on the platform of SDP.

The disclosure of his resignation
was conveyed in a letter directed to the Chairman of the SDP, Tudun Ward, in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the letter, dated Thursday, was titled “Notification of Resignation from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), read, “I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), effective immediately.

“This decision has not been taken lightly but I feel compelled to do so due to the lingering internal crisis that has plagued our party for some time.

“As you are aware, these internal conflicts have led to serious division and litigations within the party.

“I appreciate the opportunities given to me while been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and grateful for the experiences and relationship built.

“However, I feel it is time for me to move on and explore new avenues.”

Wadada has been a long standing friend of President Bola Tinubu but speculations of his possible defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC became rife after his visit to the State House.

Though he is yet to name his party of destination, there is high possibility of his moving back to the APC from where he crossed to the SDP ahead of the 2023 general election.
