Group condemns FG over fuel price hike

A popular group, the Political Watchdog Movement of Nigeria (POWAMN), based in Benin, has rejected the recent increment in the pump price of petrol by the federal government.

Rather, the group urged the government to create job opportunities for the teeming population of uner employed and unemployed youths across the country.

In a statement made available to Daily Times on Tuesday and signed by Curtis Eghosa Ugbo, its leader, the group asserted that it supports the subsidy removal but that the price should not have been more than N100 per litre.

According to the group, “the people who are the stakeholders were not consulted before the decision to increase the pump price of petroleum products was taken.”

POWAMN stressed that the money budgeted for feeding school children and paying unemployed youths should be used to build additional refineries across the six regions in the country.

This, it believe, would, to an extent, address the issue of under employment and unemployment.
