The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, has announced the determination of the university to keying into President Muhammadu  Buhari’s diversification agenda, with the determination of the university to move into establishment of full mechanised farming to create job opportunities.

Soremekun , who took over  from Prof Isaac Asuzu, a couple of months ago, said that the university had concluded all arrangements for the establishment of mechanised farming to make it a food basket and food security zone of the nation.

He described the soil content and atmospheric conditions of the host town as a goldmine for the establishment of farms in the university, and added that the current economic situation in the country called for all tertiary institutions to go into other business ventures.

“When I came on board, I looked round and found out that we are sitting on goldmine. This town has a good soil and very expansive land that we can deploy for mechanised farming to provide employment for professionals and ensure that we attain food security,” Soremekun said.
