Foundation trains 2,500 youths, women on skills in Enugu

An Enugu based Entrepreneurial group, the Potters Wheel, says it has trained no fewer than 2,500 youth and women in the state on various skills within one year.

Mr. Godson Onuzulike, the President of the foundation told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Enugu that the training was done in collaboration with Enugu State Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Onuzulike said that the beneficiaries were trained in confectionery, detergents, cosmetics, hand sanitizers, and tile washing.

He said that the foundation had concluded plans to hold a one day trade fair for 500 entrepreneurs on Nov. 20 to showcase their products.

The president said the Non-Governmental, Community Based Humanitarian Organisation offered free vocational and entrepreneurial training to youths and women in Nigeria as an antidote to the massive unemployment, crime and insecurity in the country.

Onuzuluike said the foundation would use the trade fair to mark its first anniversary and commissioning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

According to him, the trade fair and exhibition will be based on made in Nigeria confectioneries, natural beverages, hygienic, allied and skin care products, from over 500 of of trainees who has benefitted from their various trainings.

He however, said they had rolled out some chains of activities to mark the day which included Humanitarian Service Award as well as Entrepreneurial Talk Show.

“This will be given to individuals and organisations that has helped us to run this vision in the last one.

“Therefore, we are using this opportunity to invite the general public, companies, clubs, organisations and government agencies to patronise and support the beneficiaries.

“These trainees have decided to join those who make things happen rather than watch things happen.

“We also solicit for support in providing start up materials for them that have not started practicing what they where taught because of financial limitations.

Onuzulike added that trainees had participated on how to make Cakes, Meat Pie and other Pie Families, Doughnut, Samosa, Spring Roll, Chin-Chin, Peanut, Scotch Egg, Bread, Cookies, Alcohol Based Hand Sanitizers, Antibacterial Hand wash, Car Wash and Liquid Soap.

Others are body wash, tile wash, toilet wash, insecticide, rodenticide,carrot oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, laundry tablet soap, bleach, detergent, antiseptics, disinfectants, odour control, organic soap, organic cream and many others.
