Folio Communications, publishers of Daily Times, appoints Egbunike Group GM
The Board of the Folio Communications Ltd has announced the appointment of Mr. Olisa Egbunike, the immediate past Managing Editor of the Independent Newspapers as the Group General Manager with concurrent leadership of the Daily Times of Nigeria Plc.
Chairman of Folio Communications, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, announced this in a statement on Friday.
Mr. Egbunike, a veteran Journalist cut his teeth in the Nigerian Institute of Journalism before acquiring a degree in Humanities from the Lagos State University.
He has worked in diverse capacities in the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, rising to the position of an Assistant Editor-In-Chief.
He headed many desks in NAN as well as the Headship of Communications, Sure-P in the Presidency.
A member of the Nigeria Guild of Editors and Nigerian Union of Journalists, Mr. Egbunike has attended various workshops, seminars and other platforms for Professional performance enhancements in Nigeria and overseas.
In their mandate, the Board has charged Mr. Egbunike to turn around the fortunes of the Daily Times of Nigeria Plc, infusing the trademark sanguinary vibrancy of the Publishing House. He has free reins to attract the best industry hands to reposition and restore the flagship.
Particularly, the iconic brands as the Lagos Weekend, Business Times, Sunday Times and other titles must be restored to the newsstands.
The Board has envisioned a holistic turnaround of the Daily Times commencing from the 1st day of June, 2016. The Newspaper attains 90 on this day and shall commence to wear a new look.
Folio Communications would in addition to the Daily Times production, commence running a news agency that would source and distribute materials to other media houses in the manner of Reuters and the AFP.
In the overall, Folio Communications intends to clinch back the exalted Daily Times pedestal that bestrode the Nigerian Journalism arena. The other titles are also expected to return on the newsstands by the end of the year 2016.
