Five hoodlums gunned down for killing Assistant Police Commissioner

Men of the Delta State Police Command achieved a breakthrough recently when they gunned down five hoodlums suspected to have taken active part in the killing of the boss of the Ughelli Area Police Command, Mr. Usman Ndanababo, a few days earlier.

The hoodlums reportedly met their waterloo during a shootout with operatives of the state anti kidnapping squad.

Daily Times gathered that the squad, which was deployed under the command of the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zainna Ibrahim, who himself relocated to the town to give effective supervision, encountered the robbery gang somewhere in Ughelli.

In their attempt to escape from the scene, the criminals were said to have engaged the police in a fierce shootout.

When the smoke had cleared the hoodlums were discovered lying lifeless.
Information gathered from eyewitnesses said that the hoodlums did not deliberately shoot at the deceased but decided to snuff life out of him when he tried to escape with the key of his Camry car which they were after.

In his reaction to inquiries the CP said, “serious operations are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.”
