Fire service warns residents, as distress calls hit 150 in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Director, Fire Service Department, Alhaji Bello Ahmed Zagga has warned residents of the state to desist from attitudes that are capable of causing fire outbreak in their homes. He gave the warning in his office in Birnin Kebbi in an interview with Daily Times correspondent. He said most fire inferno were caused by the people themselves due to care free attitudes, thereby losing valuables and sometimes lives to avoidable incidences. Zagga added that most of the calls received by the department were found to be electric related, lamenting that households leave electrical appliances on while leaving their homes, sometimes low quality cables and incorrect wiring system is responsible for several fire outbreaks. He stated that women who use gas cookers are contributors to fire incidences in several homes due to their careless handling of the gadgets in the kitchen, those who rare animals must be warned to keep hay away from kitchen and other inflammatory items that can ignite fire.
