Extend hand of fellowship to opponents, monarch urges Obiano

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has been urged to incorporate both his supporters and the losers in the last governorship election so as to move the state forward.

The traditional ruler of Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, who gave the advice, said for the Governor to have less problem in the next four years he will hold sway in the state, he should extend his hand of fellowship to the losers of November18, 2017 governorship election.

He said the Governor needs a lot of wisdom to wade through the challenges that would arise from many stakeholders in the state who supported him to win the election in a landslide, because, according to him, anybody who supported him would be looking out for something.

The traditional ruler said the governor also needs money with which to settle all those who supported him in the just concluded election, especially the hawks among them but stated that he doesn’t see such big money coming to Obiano.

Igwe Nwankwo also said henceforth, there will be elections in Ansmbra State, starting from the Anambra Central Senatorial zone election now scheduled for January 13, 2018 and the general election that will hold in 2019 and all of them will place financial demands on the Governor.
The governor is going to face the biggest intrigues of who gets what from those who supported him. All the big people who supported him will want appointments which cannot go round. There will be a lot of demands on the Governor. The way he handles it will determine how successful he will be,” said Igwe Nwankwo.

But Governor Obiano in his speeches after his victory had extended his hand of fellowship to his opponents, asking them to join him in the arduous task of developing Anambra State. Although the two major candidates have not said if they would work Governor Obiano, they however conceded defeat and ruled out challenging the result of the election at the election petition tribunal.
