Excitement, encomiums as Folio Media Group unveils DT Now in style

All roads led to Utopia, Victoria Island, Lagos, venue of the unveiling of the much anticipated bi-monthly publication of the Folio Media Group, as dignitaries from all walks of life on Tuesday thronged the venue to witness the birth of Daily Times Now.

The lifestyle magazine, which is expected to be a total package, has everything for everybody, including fashion, entertainment, music and politics.

On what to expect from DT Now, the Editor, Ngozi Omambala, said the magazine seeks to express what people want to know, educate a new generation and promote Nigerians doing well in their respective careers. ‘‘People should expect a good read,’’ she said.

Dismissing the possibility of gossips in the content, Ngozi said: “It’s not a gossip magazine. There’s enough gossip out there. We don’t have time for gossips. It’s going to be inspirational, we are going to tell you about Nigerians who are making a difference, especially women and encourage youths that they can be what they want to be.’’

On his part, prominent designer, Mr. Frank Oshodi, commended the Folio Media Group for the initiative, stating that it would mark the beginning of a new era.

‘‘I don’t want to lie to you. I’ve not read print for a long time. With the emergence of DT Now, we are going to have lifestyle, fashion and all that. Pullouts are interesting. Ladies, youngsters and some of us in the industry like them. I think it’s a good idea.’’

However, the atmosphere became turbo-charged as world famous English journalist and CNN anchor and reporter, Richard Quest, breezed in to grace the occasion.

Other dignitaries present at the event included screen goddess, Omotola Jalade –Ekeinde, African China, Mr. Frank Oshodi, current Miss Nigeria, Chioma Obiadi, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, publisher Daily Times, Mr. Noel Anosike, GMD, Daily Times and other movers and shakers of the business and entertainment world.

Meanwhile, the night was spiced up with electrifying performances of live bands that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.

African China was on hand to raise the roof with performances of some of his old smash hits. He also performed songs off his latest album “Letter to Mr. President.”
