Emir of Kano warns against threat to national unity

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi 11, has called on individuals and groups of people trying to create disunity among the various ethnic nationalities in the country to put a halt to it in the interest of the nation.

Emir Sanusi who expressed his dismay over the way and manner some sections of the Nigerian media have been reporting the Ese incident warned that the ‘dangerous trend’ must stop as it was capable of threatening national stability.

He reiterated the commitment of his palace to ensure sanity in Islam, urging Nigerians to desist from any move to cause disharmony in the country.

The Emir spoke on the Ese-saga, while receiving a delegation of Halleluyah Assembly International Church led by its General Overseer, Pastor Victor Majekodunmi Akure, at his palace.

The Emir, who once again used the occasion to exonerate the palace and the entire Kano Emirate Council of any wrong doing, described the incident as unfortunate and cautioned those promoting disharmony with the ugly development to desist forthwith.

His words: “We are happy to receive you here today, your visit is coming in the aftermath of the unfortunate incidence involving some of our children, and I have told the world the efforts we made to ensure that the girl is returned back to his parents in Bayelsa State.

“However, despite all what we have done, it is disheartening that some people with evil intention are trying to capitalize on the incidence to create disharmony among the various ethnic groups in the country.

“We are more worried that these people are forcing the girl involved to change her narration about the extra efforts we made here, by receiving her in the palace, as part of our intervention to ensure quick resolution of the incidence, to promote their negative media campaign against our people.

“We are appealing to these people to immediately stop this negative campaign which is capable of threatening national harmony, and cause disunity among our people”, he stressed.

However, Emir Sanusi commended Pastor Akure for championing peaceful co-existence among Christians and Muslims in the country.

Pastor Akure, thanked the Emir for receiving him, and disclosed that his visit was primarily conceived to pray for the peace and progress of the state.
