Emefiele meets Buhari at Aso Rock

The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, on Thursday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
But the meeting between the president and the CBN Governor was held behind closed doors.
Speaking with the State House correspondents after the meeting, Emefiele disclosed that briefed Buhari on the stability in the foreign exchange market and other activities of the CBN.
Emefiele added that Buhari was delighted over the stability in the forex market.
He said, “Basically as it is expected what we normally do is from time to time to brief the President about activities about the CBN.
“Particularly at this time as it relates to the efforts that the CBN is doing to stabilise the forex market.
“We briefed him (the president) regarding the activities so far and he was delighted to hear that the market is stabilising at the level that it is right now.
“I am saying the parallel market which currently stabilises at between N380 and N385.”
Emefiele also spoke on the crude oil production, saying that the increase in crude oil production and export were the major factors responsible for the stability in the forex market.
Though the president was absent from Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting for the third time in a row, he had earlier held separate meetings with the Attorney- General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN) and the group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru.
