EDO 2016: PDP vows to claim victory
Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in South-South, on Monday, said the party in the region would ensure that it reclaim Edo state from the grip of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 2016 governorship election in the state.
Chairman, Edo Congress Election Panel, Sergeant Awuse, said for the PDP to make real its promise of taking over Edo state, it is important to put a solid structure in place and urged all party faithful to put all negative tendencies aside and work for the victory of the party.
Awuse, berated the anti-corruption war of President Buhari- led APC, said only PDP members are been persecuted on a daily basis in a bid to destabilized the party and called on members not to relent in the quest to take over power in the state.
Awuse spoke on Monday at the Edo State PDP Congress which saw the re-election of former chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih in a unanimous decision by delegates of the party from across the state.
He stated “We are here to put structure together and take over power from the APC in Edo state. Edo PDP has been very patient, I think enough is enough. APC is not ready to govern but only to witch hunt those they want to cage. The country can bear witness to what PDP have done. Am sure if election is called today Nigerians will speak differently.
“PDP is hunted in the South-South by APC but they will never have it, we are going to put our house together because we can’t afford to fail, we must reclaim Edo state. We are going to troop from River state and take over Edo state” he boasted.
Re-elected Chairman of the party, Dan Orbih, in his acceptance speech thanked members and leaders of the party for the confidence reposed on him and other executive members to pilot the affairs of the party.
He said the peaceful manner the congresses across the state was conducted was a pointer to the fact that the party is ready and re-energise to take over Edo state.
Other members of the state executives elected through voice vote to fill the 31 positions are Mr. Felix Imosilli, (Secretary), Emma Ogbomo, (Deputy Chairman), Chris Nehikhare, (Publicity Secretary) and Mrs.
Linsey Tes Sorae (Woman Leader), among others.
