Prof. Vincent Asor, President, Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, says digitalization will create more jobs rather than reducing employment.
Asor, a Professor of Mathematics at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja recently.
According to him, by the time the country becomes fully digitalised, it will go a long way in creating more jobs rather than reducing it as many Nigerians think.
“People do not really understand the concept of digitalization until you are into it.
“I am into it, digitalization does not reduce jobs but rather it creates more jobs and more opportunities for people to leverage on.
“By the time, we go digital, if you have one person working, you will now have about five people and this will make the work more effective and efficient.
“There will be more computers and those computers will be managed by people.’’
He said what was expected in 2017 was implementing and harnessing the achievements of the ICT ‘’and what ICT can further do for us.’’
