Democracy Day: Drunk driver kills teenager in Osun

Tragedy struck at the late hour of Democracy Day on Sunday in Osogbo, when an allegedly drunk driver hit the daughter of a trader selling provision.
Daily Times gathered that the victim, a teenager, was hit by the driver in the presence of her mother near Capital Hotel, in Osogbo.
According to eye witnesses, the victim died on the spot by the road side where she was hit with a black SUV car.
It was learnt that the driver had just left the hotel with his two kids when the incident happened at the spot directly opposite the hotel.
An eye witness, who identifies himself as Mallam Nasir, said he narrowly escaped death too.
Nasir blamed the recklessness of the driver for the accident, saying that the driver had only realised killing someone after the teenage had died.
He narrated, “I was standing close to the deceased when I went to purchase a voucher. No sooner that I moved my feet, the reckless driver rammed into the deceased.
“I am very sure he was drunk. After the girl was crushed, the drunkard came out inquiring if he had killed someone. There was a woman in his car and two children but nothing happened to them.”
