Dr. Vakkai, who doubles as the state C

commissioner of health stated this on Tuesday while answering questions from journalists on the update of the pandemic in the state.

“Based on the information at our disposal and based on the result we received from the Laboratory of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), we have had no positive case of COVID-19 in Taraba state.

“That is to say that as at today, the 7th day of April, 2020, Taraba is free from COVID-19,” he said.

While assuring that the state would hopefully maintain the statistics, Vakkai noted that it would only be possible if the people cooperate with the decision of the technical committee who he pointed out will not relent in its resolve of advising the state government on the necessary measures and steps to take in order to contain the spread of the scourge.

Dr. Vakkai however, cleared the air of the results of the two suspected cases from two local governments of Zing and Gashaka that they all tested negative from the coronavirus.

“Two samples sent to Abuja, both tested negative of COVID-19, that was why I said Taraba state is free from the deadly disease,” he added.
