COVID -19: NYCN flag off distribution of 20,000 bags of foodstuff

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has flagged off the distribution of 20, 000 bags of foodstuff in the six geo political zones to cushion the effect of the pandemic.

National President of the Council, Amb. Sukubo Saraigbe while flagging off the distribution in Port – Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday commended the federal government, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, state and local governments on their various strategies and effort in ensuring that citizens are not terribly affected by the virus.
Amb. Sukubo in his remarks regretted that, states and federal government “actions though in good faith have, however, caused hardship to citizens, especially the youth population, most of who rely on daily means of sustenance.

He said “It is on the strength of this therefore, that, I, the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in collaboration with my executive members and some critical partners deem it necessary to give out some palliatives to the youths in Nigeria to cushion the effects of the lockdown as a result of the COVID-19”.
The President added “accordingly, the Youth Council under my leadership is giving out (20,000) twenty thousand bags of food items which include: Garri, Rice, Beans and cartons of Indomie Noodles to youth in all the states of the federation.
“This gesture as I mentioned earlier, is in collaboration with the Belema Oil Producing Ltd and Jack-Rich Tien Aid Foundation”.
To ensure effective and equitable distribution of the items, he said he said NYCN constituted Committees in the six geopolitical zones.
The NYCN President enjoined the youths to adhere strictly to every precautionary measure put in place by their respective state governments, including the compulsory wearing of face masks, physical distancing and regular hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
He as well commended the efforts of the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare for turning around the youth sector within the short time of his assumption of office

Members of the Committees across the geopolitical zones are; North Central: Nihi Oladele John (Chairman), Aloshile Mukthar (Secretary) and Comr. Haulat Tijjani; North West: Bello Bala Shagari (Chairman), Mohammed Saihu Danlani (Secretary) and Comrade Kabiru Yusuf; and North East: Almustapha Asuku Abdullahi (Chairman),Comrade Bishop Douglas (Secretary) and Blessing Kah Williams.
Others include: South South: Comrade Innocent Ajayi (Chairman), Sokari Goodboy (Secretary) and Gamgbo Grace Ewonu; South East: Comrade Innocent Nduanya (Chairman) , Okwu Nnabuike .E. (Secretary) and Comrade Nnoyelu Williams; and South West: Olufemi Lawson (Chairman), Comrade Amosun Tom (Secretary) and Awujoola Kehinde Charity.
