COVID-19: FA bans goal celebrations, handshakes as league goes on
Burundi Football Federation (FFB) has banned goal celebrations, pre-match handshakes and any activity that involves touching of hands as they push on with national league amidst coronavirus outbreak.
These are part of preventive measures that have been enacted to help contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country. Burundi has so far registered three cases, among the lowest in Africa.

This means that players cannot shake the hands of their opponents as a fair play gesture. FFB has also instructed the players to avoid getting close to match officials when they protest decisions.
They have also decreed that every match venue must have handwashing points and everyone must wash their hands before getting into the grounds.
The number of spectators at match venues has also been halved.
Burundi was the latest country in Africa to record positive Covid-19 cases and have decided to go on with football activities despite the rest of the continent halting their leagues and tournaments.
Apart from Burundi, Belarus, Nicaragua and Tajikistan are the other countries whose leagues are continuing.
