Court orders final forfeiture of $43.4m, £27,800, N23.2m to FG

Justice Muslim Hassan of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday ordered the final forfeiture of $43.4million, £27,800 and N23.2million cash discovered in an air-conditioned private home in Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos to the Federal Government.
The judge’s verdict was sequel to the forfeiture application of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), asking the court to forfeit the cash to the federal government.
The Daily Times recalls that the staggering N13billion cash was recovered by the operatives of the EFCC in one of the flats in the tower during a raid on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
It is instructive to note that a whistle blower had alerted the EFCC over the strange development while the operatives of the commission swoop on the private home to recover the cash.
