Burglars break into hair dressing saloon, steal apparatus in Delta community

An unidentified burglar currently rampaging Abraka community in Delta State has allegedly broken into a hairdressing saloon belonging to one Mrs. Akpe Catherine and made away with the saloon equipment worth hundreds of thousands of naira.

Mrs. Akpe who confirmed the incident to our reporter said: “I discovered my shop burgled by unknown thieves, and they removed my driers, several hairdressing creams worth over N200, 000” disclosing that the incident was however reported to the police at the Abraka Police Division.

But the Police Image Maker in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka when contacted confirmed the frequent incidences of thieves invading shops in the community, adding that the Police were working hard to put a stop to the activities.

While calling for useful information to assist the police, DSP Aniamaka disclosed that six suspected armed men who specialized in robbing unsuspecting members of the public in the community, were recently arrested adding that they will charged to court on completion of investigation.

Mrs. Akpe, a corps member in Abraka community who decried the high rate of crime in Abraka, however appealed to the security agents to work harder with a view to bring the burglars to book.

She said: “this is not the first time my property would be stolen, when I was selling GSM phones they burgled my shop and stole all my phones, police should please do something to help me”.

Meanwhile, the President, Student Union Government (SUG) Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Mamus Igbuku has said that plans were underway by the union to embark on awareness campaign to sensitize students against committing suicide over poor performances.

Igbuku told our reporter that the campaign against suicide would go a long way to change the orientation of students towards suicide.

He considered the deaths recorded as a case of depression and not just one of failure in examination, adding that “those that committed suicide are not the only students that had bad results in the last semester examination, students who find themselves in troubling situations should not hesitate to contact the counseling unit of the university for help, rather taking their lives”.
