Benitez to stay at Newcastle

Rafa Benitez and Newcastle United have struck a deal to see him remain as manager, according to sources. A three-year deal is expected to be announced later which will contain written assurances for the Spaniard on full control of player recruitment and budgets set for the summer and winter transfer windows. The 56-year-old signed a three-year deal to become Newcastle boss back in March, when he replaced Steve McClaren, but the contract was reported to include an option to cancel at the end of the season.
Scholes makes case for Giggs
Paul Scholes hopes fellow Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs will be retained on Jose Mourinho’s Old Trafford staff. Mourinho is poised to replace Louis van Gaal in the Old Trafford hot seat after the Dutchman was sacked on Monday, just two days after leading United to FA Cup glory. Giggs served as Van Gaal’s assistant for two years, and had been tipped to take the top job after the former Barcelona coach’s planned departure in 2017, but Mourinho is expected to hire his own staff, including long-term right-hand man Rui Faria.
Aggressive EPL better for me –Xhaka
Granit Xhaka believes the aggressive nature of the Premier League will suit his game after he signed for Arsenal on a long-term deal. The Switzerland midfielder’s move from Borussia Monchengladbach was confirmed on Wednesday. Arsenal are thought to have a paid a fee in the region of £30million to secure the 23-year-old’s services.
