Bauchi varsity SAZU cautions public on circulation of fake admission letters

Bauchi’s Saadu Zungur University (SAZU), Gadau has cautioned members of the public, especially admission seekers to be ware of fake admission letters currently in circulation.

The Public Relations Officer of the University, Auwal Hassan who made this known in a press release Saturday evening, said imposters have devised means of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public by circulating fake admission letters in the name of the University.

“The attention of the Management of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi has been drawn to fraudulent activities by impostors who are circulating fake admission letters in the name of the University”, the press release said.

He explained that a document has been circulating with the titled, “Provisional Letter of Admission into Bauchi State University, Gadau, Bauchi State for the 2025/2026 Session”.

According to the PRO, the document has been falsely linked with Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) to mislead unsuspecting applicants.

Hassan further noted that Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi is a distinct institution and should not be confused with Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG).

He stressed that “fraudsters are deliberately exploiting this similarity to deceive candidates”.

The press release said admission into SAZU is conducted only through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and the University’s official portal.

The PRO maintained that the University has not released any admission letters for the 2025/2026 Academic Session outside the official channels, warning the public against yielding to any demand for payment.

“Any demand for payment of fees (such as so-called “acceptance fees”) to unauthorized persons or accounts is fraudulent and must be disregarded”, he said.

The university therefore, urged prospective students, parents, and guardians to confirm all admission offers through JAMB CAPS and the SAZU Admissions Office, and report any suspicious communications, letters, or requests for payment to the University’s Security Unit or the nearest law enforcement agency.

The release added that the management of the University is working closely with security agencies to identify and prosecute those involved in these fraudulent activities.

“For genuine admission updates, please use the University’s official website: www.sazu.edu.ng”, the press release concluded.
