Bauchi Gov-Elect Urged to Liaise with NGOs

Bauchi State Governor-elect, Mohammad Abubakar, has been call upon to work closely with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) as a way of finding lasting solutions to some problems in governance.
State Coordinator, Evidence for Action (E4A), a DFiD support project on maternal and newborn health, Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed and that of Christian, Muslim Peace Movement (CMPM), Garba Sidi, stated this on Wednesday, separately while briefing newsmen in Bauchi.
Ahmed explained that most activities of NGOs were to complement government’s efforts, hence the need for the new government to partner with them.
He said; “The New government should work closely with NGOs in the state because they touch the grassroots and can provide the government with information on the needs of the people and help to, on behalf of the populace, hold government accountable for its commitment to development”.
Sidi, on the activities of his association, disclosed that it “coordinates a network on peace building, through which it reaches out to victims of crisis and displaced persons.
