Anti party activities: Delta Council suspends 2 Councilors, warns against misconduct

The Legislative Arm of Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State has unanimously suspended two councilors indefinitely for gross misconduct and anti-party activities.

Honourable Atalo Kanayo moved the motion and seconded by Honourable Hillary Okafor during a plenary to suspend Hon, Philip Kawekwune, representing Ward 19 in Issele Uku and Hon, Abigail Okowi (Deputy Minority Leader) of Ward 6, Issele Azagba.

The motion was supported by the 16 members of the hallowed chambers and the suspension took immediate effect.

The action stemmed from the wanton breach of oath of secrecy and allegiance, abuse of office and general misconduct, among others, of the suspended lawmakers.

The affected councilors have been directed to hand over property of the House in their possession to the Leader of the House , Rt Hon. Chukwunweike Okonkwo.

Meanwhile Hon, Ukamaka Ndubupkwu, representing Ward 3 in Obomkpa has been elected as the new Deputy Minority Leader to replace the suspended Okowi, following the unanimous adoption of the motion moved and seconded by Kanwei Ekene and Hon, Patrick Ngbakulu respectively.
