Anambra Guber: PDP fixes April 5 for primary election, N40m for nomination form

As political parties gear up towards the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, the Peoples Democratic has announced schedule of activities towards unhindered participation by interested members of the party.

Aspirants must be ready to pay N5 million for Expressions of Interest forms and N35 million for the Nomination form; totalling N40 million to be eligible to contest the party’s governorship primary election slated for Saturday, April 5, 2025.

A document containing the outlined schedule of activities signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Capt Umar Bature (rtd) revealed that selling of forms at the PDP national headquarters, in Abuja which officially started on Monday, February 24 will end with submission of forms which closes on March 7.

Aspirants are expected to meet with members of the National Working Committee (NWC) on March 10 in Abuja while aspirants will be screened on March 11. Uncleared aspirants are given the opportunity to appeal outcome of the screening exercise on March 14.

On March 19, the NWC will meet to approve and release the list of cleared candidates.

The shadow election will hold in a venue to be announced by the party in Anambra State on Saturday April 5 while a dedicated Appeal Committee will sit at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja on April 8 to receive appeals on the primary.

The schedule of activities also indicated that the NWC will present the Certificate of Return to the candidate on April 10, while names of the PDP governorship candidate and the running mate and certificates will be presented to INEC on May 22.

Ahead of the governorship primary, the ward congress to elect three ad hoc delegates per ward will hold between March 20 and March 21, while the local government congress to elect one delegate per LGA is set for March 27.
