After weeks of positive trading, NSE ASI declines by 1.55 per cent

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All Share Index (ASI), depreciated by 486.11 points or 1.55 per cent increase to close at 30,869.17 points from its previous 31,355.28 points recorded on Tuesday after several weeks of positive trading.

A total of 518,883,361 shares worth 3.8 billion naira in 5,469 deals were traded bringing Market capitalisation down to N10.3 trillion.

Wednesday market activity was characterised by high volume trading’s from UBCAP Plc with 64,336,302 shares which amounted to N110, 381,265.13. This was followed by INTENEGINS which traded 51,843,882 shares worth N25, 923,321.00. TRANSCORP also traded 49,372,309 shares worth N147, 951,092.91. UBA and GUARANTY sold 46,380,256 and 42,504,243 shares which amounted to N198, 092,883.56 and N1, 078,293,163.28 respectively.

Forty-Nine (49) companies participated in Wednesday’s equity trading activities of which nineteen (19) were recorded as equity gainers while thirty (30) companies were recorded on the loser’s table.

Top three Equity gainers are: ASHAKACEM with a gain of 89k to close at N18.79 followed by ETI which gained 47k to close at N18.3 while CCNN gained 3k to close at N11.8 other equity gainers are MOBIL and CUSTODYINS which gained 2k and 18k to close at N150.2 and N3.98 respectively.

FO led Wednesday’s losers in a loss of N10.14 to close at N192.86, NB followed with a loss of N7.04 to close at N140.06 and CONOIL lost N1.5 to close at N34. Coming 4th and 5th on the equity loser’s chart is STANBIC and GUARANTY which lost N1.35 and N1.27 to close at N26.65 and N24.23 respectively.
