Tom Okpe, Abuja
The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by of paying lip service to fight against corruption in spite of its vow to tackle plague head-on.
The party also urged the youths to rise to the occasion, change the narratives on issues confronting the country, push for new frontiers and challenge the leadership and the status quo by joining the credible alternative party.
In his speech at its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, its national chairman, Egnr. Yabaji Yusuf Sanni, said: “It is unfortunate that this government is paying lip-service to corruption. This is in spite of its vow to fight corruption head-on.
“The $25 billion contract award scandal in NNPC and other unresolved cases of corruption involving the functionaries of the APC led Federal Government brings to question the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to the fight against corruption,” he said.
The party advised President Buhari to come out clean on the NNPC contract award scandal since he is the Supervising Minister of Petroleum.
According to the Party, “the federal government should heed the caution by the World Bank in view of the amount of high debt profile of the country and immediately release the report of the Osinbajo-led investigative panel on the N40 billion cash found in Lagos and the indictment of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babachir David Lawal.
“I believe that the ADP is on a genuine rescue mission; our country is on the precipice and as patriots, we must exhibit the determination to rescue our country and place her on the path of progress and National cohesion.
History and posterity will not vindicate us as we march on this journey of national re-birth.
“The party is supreme, as a political party, cohesion within our ranks is very essential and I urge you to work out ways on consolidating on unity in the party, so party faithful at all levels must work together to foster national unity, party interest and cohesion,” he said.
