Adeleke to shun APC primary, may join PDP

There are strong indications that the younger brother of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, the first civilian governor in Osun state, Otunba Ademola Adeleke who is an aspirant for the Osun West Senatorial by-election under the All Progressives Congress (APC) might decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It was learnt that the defection was a ploy to get the ticket to contest the senatorial seat under the platform of PDP.

Adeleke was to contest the APC primaries with Senator Mudasiru Hussein tomorrow.

It was learnt that some of his supporters within the APC were instrumental to Adeleke’s defection.

Daily Times authoritavely gathered that some APC leaders who are loyal to late Isiaka Adeleke have been meeting with chairman of the party, Hon Soji Adagunodo and others PDP leaders since the last 48 hours.

Recall that the All Progressives Congress Screening Committee had disqualified the Osun State Commissioner for Cabinet Matters, Senator Mudashiru Hussein, from participating in the senatorial primary earlier scheduled to hold on Monday.

He was earlier disqualified over non-resignation 30 days before election as stipulated by the party’s constitution.
But Hussein had since produced a letter confirming his resignation.

The seat became vacant following the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke on April 23 and the Independence National Electoral Commission has fixed July 8 for the by-election.
