Abia community urges FG, state govt to develop roads, infrastructure

Ndoro Oboro, in Ikwuano LGA weekend, united its diversity with a church service, while urging the state and Federal Government to repair Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene federal road and other infrastructure in the area.

Speaking with newsmen after the church service held at the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Trinity Cathederal, Ndoro Oboro, the President General of the community, Chief Ikechukwu Kenneth Origa, said the occasion was to celebrate unity and to thank God for his mercies and for the unity of the community.

Having come together after a prolonged crisis in the community, Origa said the community was now faced with the issue of development of the community which, he said, had since been under self-efforts.

He disclosed that for a long time, there had been no government influence in the area, especially in the area of water projects, community halls, electricity and roads, urging the state and federal government to consider them in their developmental plans.

The community, he said, had the biggest community market in the south east, while the Methodist church started there in 1909, pleading with governments at all levels to come to the aid of a health centre established by government in the area in 1950 is at the stage of dilapidation and upgrade it.

For the paramount ruler of the community, HRH, Eze Ralph U. Ogbonna disclosed that the celebration was over the coming together of the 10 component villages after one of them had been at variance with the rest for a long time, expressing his happiness that dialogue settled the matter, not “blows”, court and police.
