Rivers PDP endorses Secondus …As Secondus promises effective leadership, team work if voted

As the race for the National chairmanship slot of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gets to its head tomorrow at the national convention of the party slated for Abuja, the Rivers State chapter of the PDP has endorsed Prince Uche Secondus for the position.
This is even as Secondus has promised that if elected he will provide effective leadership and encourage teamwork among members, party officials at national, states, local governments and the 9, 000 electoral wards in the country.
The endorsement came on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in a press briefing at the state headquarters of the party in Port Harcourt and addressed by the state chairman of the party, Bro Felix Obuah.
In a statement read at the briefing, the state chairman said that the party was poised and more prepared than ever before to take back power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and to redirect the country on the path of progress, development and economic recovery.
The statement stated that the Southern part of the country which is zoned to fill the chairmanship slot was lucky to have a tested and seasoned personality with the requisite experience, “not only to occupy the office of the National chairman, but also capable of carrying out the onerous tasks with relative ease and satisfaction.”
The statement went further to say that, “He is a pioneer member of the PDP, has served in different capacities, including a one-time state chairman, National Organising Secretary, Deputy National Chairman, Acting National Chairman and a member of the BOT among others,” adding that, “he is no other than our very own, Prince Uche Secondus.”
Responding to questions, Bro Obuah said the state chapter of the party was solidly behind him and those in his camp because “Nigerians need him, the PDP needs him and the nation’s democracy also needs him if it must endure and to redeem the dying Nigerian people,” expressing the hope that Secondus would emerge victorious because he is a highly experienced and tested hand.
The Daily Times newspaper had in its November 28, 2017 edition reported that Prince Uche Secondus may emerge as the national chairman of the party. Our correspondent gathered as at press time that delegates from the state for the national convention were to book for their hotel accommodations in Abuja latest Wednesday, December 6, 2017 and to depart for Abuja immediately.
While interacting with party delegates in Bauchi Sate, Secondus said he deserved support more than any other aspirant at the Saturday convention because he was one time national acting chairman of the party from 2015 to 2016, national deputy chairman and Rivers State chapter chairman where he was acquainted with leadership experience.
He assured that, “Every member of our great party would be carried along so that PDP will emerge victorious come 2019.
“My mission if elected is to provide effective leadership and encourage teamwork among members, party officials at national, states, local governments and the 9, 000 electoral wards we have in the country would be carried along so that we will emerge victorious come 2019.”
Secondus boasted that he is the most qualified among all the contestants and is more conversant with the party politics having held various leadership positions.
The PDP chairmanship hopeful who vowed to deliver the votes of his state, Rivers and the South-South geo-political zone to the party in the 2019 presidential election also promised that party chieftains and stalwarts that deliver their constituencies would be accorded more recognition when the party forms government under his leadership.
“I want to appeal to delegates to vote for only an aspirant who can deliver his state and zone to the party in the next 2019 polls. Anybody who cannot deliver his state or zone is not qualified to be elected national chairman of our great party. All we need is to win election so that we can save Nigerians from the current hardship inflicted on them by the APC due to poor governance,” he said.
While responding, the Bauchi state PDP Chairman Alhaji Hamza Akuyam thanked the aspirant for the visit, assuring that the state executives would meet with the delegates to decide on whom to vote during the forthcoming national convention as the National party Chairman.
