2023: My vision is to build a 20th-century economy for Nigeria – Orji Kalu
A former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu has said that his vision is to build a 20th-century economy for the country if he becomes Nigeria’s next president in 2023.
Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, Kalu said, “Yes, if you give me the presidency, why not, I will take. I am capable of doing the job.
“If the people of Nigeria want me to be president, they will show the hand. I can do the job. I can build a 20th-century economy for our people.”
“The problem is who is capable of doing the job. For now, I am focusing on my constituency; there is a lot of job to be done.”

Daily Times had reported that Kalu was in Minna, on Monday, August 31, for his private visit to Niger state. According to him, the visit was personal.
Orji Kalu visited Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (Rtd), Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), Niger state governor, Sani Bello, and the Emir of Minna, Dr. Umar Faruq.
Kalu came under fierce criticism following a statement attributed to him on the 2023 presidency where he was quoted to have said there was no zoning conflict in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former governor was criticised by a campaigner group, Southeast for President 2023 Movement (SEFORP2023).
In a statement on Tuesday, September 1, the lawmaker was told to “embrace realities” and stop ruling out zoning arrangement for the country’s most revered seat in 2023.
