2019: All candidates will emerge through primaries, Enugu APC assures aspirants

Ahead of the primaries of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the Enugu State Chapter of the party has assured all aspirants that candidates for various positions would emerge through transparent indirect or consensus primaries.

The state chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye stated this yesterday when Senator Ayogu Eze, a governorship aspirant paid a courtesy visit to the executive committee (EXCO) at the state Secretariat.

Nwoye assured all the aspirants that he would play a father figure role to all the contestants also advised them to resist temptation of using derogatory statements against one another.

He noted that APC is a party that believes in internal democracy guarantying that all the contestants will be treated equally adding that all the candidates will emerge through transparent indirect or consensus primaries.

The chairman however appealed to aspirants not to see the contest as a do or die affair, promising that the party will provide an enabling environment devoid of rancour.

“We want to advise all the aspirants to go into the field and campaign. At the end, whosoever that emerges winner should carry everybody along, because our mission is to take over lion building in 2019.”

In his remarks, Senator Eze, who expressed satisfaction with the manner the chairman has been piloting the affairs of the party in the state, urged him to keep the flag flying.

Senator Eze informed the chairman that the aspirants were already discussing on the possible way of making his job easier before the primaries, saying “I’m here to thank you and your exco for the good works that you have been doing to uplift our party in the state.

I want assure that I have all it takes to emerge victories in 2019 if given the mandate to fly the flag of the party”

Present at the event were all the members of the state executive of the party and members of the campaign team of the governorship hopeful.
