The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, on Monday said it had deployed 6000 officers and men to provide security in the state during the Yuletide season.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Corps’ spokesperson, Mrs. Chinyere Ekenkwo.
The statement quoted the Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Tajudeen Balogun, as saying that officers and men on leave had been recalled to ensure adequate security for people in the state.
“6000 officers of the corps will be deployed to strategic locations to watch over critical infrastructure, event centres, places of worship, government houses and black spots within the state during the period.
“Officers and men of the corps have been recalled from leave and all forms of leave have been suspended.
“Intelligence officers of the corps in plain clothes have also been deployed to mount surveillance and gather intelligence information from different parts of the State”, Balogun was quoted as saying.
The commandant appealed to the members of the public to be law abiding and security conscious.
He urged them to report all suspicious movements or gatherings to the relevant authorities. (NAN)
