Yoruba Groups Condemn Lagos OPC Rally

The Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Groups, (COSEG), has taken a swipe at the leadership of the Oodua People’s Congress, (OPC), over what it tagged “brazen disregard for law and order and naked display of political ignorance, uncharacteristic of the Yoruba.”
The group was reacting to the Monday rally of the OPC in Lagos, to mobilise support for the (President Goodluck) Jonathan administration as well as call for the removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
COSEG, which accused the Federal Government of complicity in the fuelling of the provocative rallies engulfing the country, said the recent developments were signals that Jonathan was bent on perpetuating himself in power, against the wishes of the people.
The group took the stand in a release signed by its Chairman, Ifedayo Ogunlana and Secretary, Rasaq Olokooba, after an emergency meeting to evaluate the mayhem caused by the OPC in Lagos on Monday.
