Yobe monarchs task govt on unemployment, farmers’ clashes

The Yobe State Council of Chiefs (YSCC), on Wednesday, decried the non-implementation of the minimum wage of N18, 000, as it has resulted in “low productivity and hopelessness” among workers in the civil service of the state.

The Emir of Fika and Chairman of YSCC, Alhaji Muhammadu Ibn Abali Muhammadu Idrissa, disclosed this, on Wednesday, in an opening emergency meeting at Potiskum on poverty, unemployment and farmers/herders clashes.

“I called on the Yobe State Government to look into these identified problems seriously with a view of making necessary corrections.

Similarly, there are some traditional rulers, mostly village heads, who have not received salaries for close to two years, even after a lot of efforts have been made to make government resume the payments of their salaries,” said Idrissa.

He also urged the state government, as a matter of emergency, to revisit the rising poverty, unemployment and farmers/herders clashes.
