YDP declines appeal against Edo Gov, calls for inclusive governance

The Young Democratic Party (YDP) has said that it will not appeal a court case it instituted to challenge the election of Mr. Godwin Obaseki as governor of Edo state.
YDP had gone to court seeking the nullification of the election that produced Mr. Obaseki as governor on the grounds that the party logo was wrongfully printed in the ballot papers by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The National Chairman of YDP, Comrade Bishop Amakiri, in a statement made available to the Daily Times, said in the interest of democracy, they were discontinuing the court case and urged governor Obaseki to ensure an all-inclusive governance.
According to Amakri, the party’s governorship candidate,  Engr. Nurudeen Nwafero has also agreed with the party that their legal team should withdraw from the move for Appeal.
“In the interest of Democracy, we urge governor Godwin Obaseki to ensure all-inclusive governance,” the national chairman stated.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of YDP, Comrade Emmanuel Bishop Amakiri has called on Nigerian youth to massively register as members of the party as they enter the year 2017.
Amakiri in a New Year message he personally signed, said the Youth Democratic Party should be seen by every Nigerian youth as the only alternative for good governance and secured future for Nigerians.
“We pray that 2017 will be a year of upliftment by the Nigerian youth. As youth, we faced several hurdles in the year 2016 and we at YDP belief that with total dedication, 2017 will be better.”
“The youth have allowed themselves to be deceive by old politicians. 2017 will set the pace in the run for 2019 general elections. We are calling on all youth in the country to join YDP because the light has come,” the Chairman concluded.
