WRAPA raises the alarm over escalating minors’ rape cases

The state coordinator Women Rights Advancement Protection Alternative (WRAPA) Kebbi State, Nasiru Idris has said expressed worries over the escalating cases of minor rapes in the state.

Speaking at his residence in Birnin Kebbi, the women and children crusader decried the rate at which some heartless people rape minors for no justifiable reasons.

He added that parents of the victims are so far the major headache of the struggle to bring to justice the perpetrators of the dastard acts.

He stated that so far two cases of minor rapes cases are pending in court and many others won by the body, though many parents wouldn’t speak up for fear of stigma.

Nasir noted that hawking girls are prone to rape and gender based violence.

He urged parents to take their girls off the streets, but take them to schools to get proper education that will enlighten them to keep away from such social anomalies.

He further said that they have the backing of the State Ministry of Justice in all their cases to nib in the bud the culprits.

He reiterated their unwavering commitments to fighting rape scourge to its roots, saying “we will remain focused and dogged in our struggle no matter whose ox is gored”.
