Women’s Ministry endorses Power Oil Health project
In recognition of the efforts and achievements of the Power Oil Healthy Heart Mission project Pan Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Development has endorsed the life impacting programme, while also promising to render the needed support as long as it continues in the quest to put the interest of the society first.
This was established recently in Abuja during the official flag–off ceremony at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, where top officials of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development,
Power Oil officials, representatives from different NGOs, staff of different ministries gathered to witness the program at the SGF Conference Hall, Secretariat, Abuja.
The free medical health check activity was officially declared open to the public by the Director, Women & Gender Affairs, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Annetu- Anne Aliu by being the first to have her BMI and blood pressure checked.
According to the speech delivered at the event “I am particularly pleased with the objectives of this flag off which will be addressing some challenges faced by women, the aged and other vulnerable groups as regards various heart related diseases such as High Blood pressure, High Cholesterol, Body Mass Index and other heart related challenges”.
“Also worthy of commendation is the fact that Raffles Oil Enterprise, makers of Power Oil, as part of its corporate social responsibilities, in line with the Federal Government’s Public Private partnership policies had conducted a survey which revealed that high percentage of lives,
Nigerian women in particular had been lost due to lack of awareness in getting and accessing basic medical information and regular health check-ups” she stated.
Also speaking during the programme, the Public Relations Manager, Power Oil, Mrs. Omotayo Azeez – Abiodun said, “Power Oil Health outreach program has been consistently going on for more than three years at various states across the nation, and we are delighted to eventually get the attention and support of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Development, it clearly shows we are moving on the right track.”
Omotayo also stated that the organisation is confident and hopes that the partnership will go a long way to benefit and bring about healthy wellbeing of all members of the families in Nigeria.
The plan was for the two bodies to work together for three years to cover different local government areas in the city by providing the opportunity to check their blood pressure, pulse/visceral fat level, body mass index alongside other medical consultation from the medical consultants assigned to each camp team.
Power Oil Health Camp, being a CSR initiative from the staple of Raffles Oil LFTZ Enterprise, a maker of the Nigerian no.1 heart-friendly vegetable oil brand, also endorsed by the Nigerian Heart Foundation.
Power Oil, kicked off in 2013 and has recently expanded into 16 locations across Nigeria.
