I Will Stand For Oyo Gov Election—Makinde
The Oyo State Social Democratic Party, SDP candidate in the coming governorship election, Engr. Seyi Makinde has reaffirmed his resolve to contest the election under the platform of his party.
Engr. Makinde, reacting to leaflets in circulation in parts of Ibadan that he would work with the incumbent governor Abiola Ajimobi, said it was arrant nonsense for anybody to think he would abandon his party at this crucial stage when it was obvious that the people were ready to vote for him.
He described as fluke the monumental victory of General Muhammad Buhari which robbed off on other candidates of his party, making some feather weight politicians to now assume they are bigger than they truly are.
He urged members of the public, especially the voting public in Oyo state not to be deceived by the Buhari phenomenon as to vote in a governor that the majority of the electorate had rejected because of his anti people posture, with policies that lacked human face.
He said feed back from the field had actually confirmed that but for General Buhari, many of the so called candidates of the APC would never have emerged victorious in the last weekend polls.
Makinde urged all SDP members and the good people of Oyo state to jettison all antics of fake popular candidates and their party as the SDP remained the hope of the people of Oyo state if they are to free themselves from the shackles of poverty.
The SDP candidate said much as he was ready to work with others to take Oyo state out of the woods, he would not join those already rejected by the people.
