Why Imo workers rejected take over of LGs by sacked Council chairmen

Special Adviser to Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Mayor Chukwudi Eze has explained why LGA workers across the state resisted the forceful take over of council headquarters by the sacked LGA officials, elected at the tail end of the administration of former Governor, Rochas Okorocha saying that they did not want to be reminded their ugly experience under the immediate past government.

Eze, who fielding questions from our correspondent in his office on some issues affecting LGA administration in the state described the action as lawless and wondered why the sacked Chairmen wanted to take laws into their hands while their cases were still pending in various courts.

“The credibility of the election they are claiming is being challenged everywhere. Imo people are completely keyed into the agenda and activities of Governor Emeka Ihedioha and that is why the workers and Imo people resisted the attempted brazen takeover of the LGAs”

Why the governor stopped creation of new autonomous communities in the state, the Special Adviser said the concept of creating autonomous communities which was to extend development to rural areas was defeated by the immediate government which led to crises and underdevelopment in various communities with Ezeship tussles w
and a lots of litigations.

“I commend the governor for his courage and foresight in stopping the madness of autonomous community creation. My own people have been insistent to have new autonomous community, but I have told them there are better avenues to champion rural development than having new autonomous communities”.

On the issue of LGA election, he said the delay is as a result of monumental rot discovered in the LGA system of the state and the unconcluded investigations.

He said because the immediate past governor openly said he does not believe in due process, a lot of things were messed up posing a challenge to the election.

According to him, in line with due process and disposition of the present government which has earned it the accolade of most transparent and least corrupt state, traditional rulers are receiving their full stipend, as and when due.

On the issue of Chairman, Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and his reported support for Eze Ilomuanya, he made it clear that his position has being that, Ilomuanya should be reinstated the traditional ruler of Obinugwu autonomous community because he was unjustly dethroned.
