WCD: Pope Tasks Media On Promotion Of Human Dignity
Pope Francis has urged the Christian community to assist parents in teaching their children how to survive in a media environment with human dignity and in service of common good.
In his message for the 49th World Communication Day, with the theme: “Growing and uniting the family through loving communication”, the Catholic pontiff observed that the modern media which are an essential part of life for young people could be both a help and a hindrance to communication in families.
He said: “The media can be a hindrance, if they become a way to avoid listening to others, to evade physical contact, to fill up every moment of silence and rest, so that we forget that silence is an integral element of communication.
