UI Students On Rampage Over Student’s Death
Students of the University of Ibadan are on a protest and have blocked the Mokola-Oojo Road in the Oyo State capital, over the alleged death of a student, Mayowa Alaran, a 200 level student of Human Kinetic.
The cause of the student’s death cannot be immediately ascertained but unconfirmed reports suggest that the student was watching a football march in his hall yesterday being the 6th of may when he suddenly slumped.
He was immediately rushed to the school’s clinic, Jaja Clinic, but were bluntly told by nurses that he won’t be attended to unless they presented his clinic card. The nurses also allegedly asked for money. While this was happening, the victim was still unconscious until he finally gave up the ghost.
There is so much tension in the school as of the time of filing this report. Students have blamed Mayowa’s death on the negligence and nonchalant attitude of the health centre workers. They want the school authority to take action because according to them, this is not the first time a student will die due to the poor attitude of the health workers.
