With traders’ support, Obiano’s second term is assured- Market Leader

The only way traders in Anambra State can reciprocate Governor Willie Obiano`s good gestures to them is to give him over whelming support in his second term bid.

Sir Peter Madueke, the chairman of Ochanja Area Group Traders, who stated this recently, said with the support at the entire traders in Anambra State, Obiano`s second term bid is assured.

Madueke said Governor Obiano has done so well and particularly a lot to the traders that he desires their support.

Prominent among Obianos achievement, according to Madueke, was the provision of security in the state particularly in Onitsha which is the hub of commerce in the state, stressing that "with security, you would have solved more than half a businessmans headache.

Governor Obiano, he said, has instituted traders’ cup competition in the state which is on- going, adding that the competition has provided an avenue for interaction and physical exercise among traders as it is often said “all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.
He noted that Governor Obiano is constructing a N10 million project for each market in the state, which their own has reached advanced stage.

The Ochanja Area has three boreholes and toilet facilities, two of the boreholes have been successfully sunk and water discovered, remaining the third one with toilet facilities. All the boreholes carry overhead tank with generating set and solar to power them.

Sir Madueke said the projects were spread to reflect the diversity and spread of the market, saying the boreholes were cited at Akunnia Njote Street, 76 Upper Iweka, behind Ochanja first gate and the last one which has borehole and toilets is at Igbomue Street, where there are a lot of petty traders.
We spread the project so that every trader will benefit. As soon as the contractors are paid, they will complete the project. You know no money was given to market traders. It is contractor-financing project,” he said.

The chairman reiterated the support of his market to Governor Obiano`s second term bid, since he has done a lot of things to improve the traders and their businesses.

Right now we are playing Governor`s up sponsored the Governor. Security is intact in the state. He is known for his security consciousness. Just few week as ago, he appointed three traders as Special Assistants. That has never happened before, “he said.

He said there is no other way to support Governor Obiano`s effort to improve the quality of lives of traders in Anambra State than to support him to return for his second term, adding that “if traders support you in Anambra State election, you know you have succeeded”.
