Tinubu swears In Nnanna Kalu as south-east commissioner in NASC

President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Nnanna Uzor Kalu as commissioner representing the south-east on the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).

The ceremony took place on Thursday at the council chambers of the State House, shortly before the start of the federal executive council (FEC) meeting.

Kalu’s nomination had faced delays after a petition was submitted in March challenging his appointment. However, the senate eventually confirmed him after two committees—ethics, code of conduct and public petitions, and establishment and public service—cleared him of any wrongdoing.

Presenting the report of the joint panel, Cyril Fasuyi, chair of the senate committee on establishment and public service, recommended Kalu’s confirmation.

In May, Tinubu had sworn in Saviour Enyiekere as chairman of the commission, alongside commissioners from the other geopolitical zones. Kalu’s oath-taking completes the regional representation on the NASC.
