President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) Flag to the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Anambra State, Evan Nicholas Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife. This is just as he declared his unwavering support for the duo to go and win the ‘Light of the Nation’ for him in the state’s forthcoming governorship election.

The President made this emphatic declaration on Monday at the State House in Abuja. He told Ukachukwu and Ekwunife; “You have my full support. We will work with you, we will stand by you — come rain, come shine,” Tinubu assured the candidates. “The party is supreme, but victory is paramount. We are confident in your capacity to deliver.”

The President commended the national and state leadership of the APC for the successful conduct of the party’s gubernatorial primary held in April, and expressed strong optimism about the party’s chances in the election.

He heaped special praises on the choice of Senator Ekwunife as the running mate. Said he; “Distinguished Senator Ekwunife, your selection is nothing short of superlative. With your political acumen and strength on the field, paired with Ukachukwu’s dynamism, the APC is presenting a formidable team – giant killers. I have no doubt you both will deliver victory.”

The Daily Times reports that the presentation ceremony was attended by several APC heavyweights, including the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma. Others were the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, among other top party leaders.

With the party’s banner now officially in their hands, it remains to be seen if Ukachukwu and Ekwunife will succeed in carrying out the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
